Instructions for the submission of applications: A letter should be addressed to the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, accompanied by a detailed budget. There is no application form to be filled in.
Dates of submission: From the beginning of April 1st until October 31st of the current year for projects that have been scheduled for the year to come.
Announcement of results: February - April, during the year of the realization of the project.
Payment of the approved sums: In September, during the year of the realization of the project.
Restrictions:
The activities supported should focus on the promotion of Hellenic Culture and be of a non-profit, public benefit. This forms part of the Foundation’s policy to subsidize important initiatives that would not be otherwise funded.
Ôhe applications submitted focus on projects being scheduled for the coming year and more specifically from May 1st to April 30 of the following year. Exception to this time-schedule are the research projects related to academic years (September of the coming year to September of the following year).
The grants are given annually. In case of a supported activity being continued in the following year, the application must be re-submitted and re-examined by the Board of Trustees.
In the field of research, grants are given to individuals for the completion of their scientific research. The Foundation mainly supports humanitarian studies. Priority is given to Greek researchers or researchers of Greek origin.
In the field of studies, applications may also be submitted by Universities for the support of Post-Graduate Programmes mainly in Greek and Byzantine Studies. No scholarships are given to individuals for undregraduate or postgraduate studies. Note: The Board of Trustees of The J. F. Costopoulos Foundation resolved to temporarily suspend the provision of financial support for doctorate and post-doctorate programmes. Thus, the Foundation will not accept any relevant applications until further notice.
In the field of holy dioceses and churches grants are given for the restoration of byzantine monuments and not contemporary churches.
In the field of films grants are given mainly for the realisation of short films and documentaries.
